A gratitude journal by email: no app, just reply
3 min read
You get one email each evening asking for 3 good things from your day. You hit reply and write them down, and your answers are kept in a private online journal. It takes about two minutes and works on any phone or computer with email.
How it works
- Sign up with just your email address.
- Pick a time: the evening by default, or the morning. Daily, on weekdays or once a week.
- Reply with one good thing per line. Add a photo if you like.
- Read your journal back on the web, day by day.
Hi Anna,
What were 3 good things today?
Just hit reply and write one good thing per line. Add a photo if you like. That's it.
Start your journal, free
Just your email address. The first question comes tonight.
Why email instead of an app
- Nothing to open. The question comes to you, in the inbox you already check.
- Nothing to install. It works on any phone, tablet or computer, including simple phones with email.
- No streaks or badges. Miss a few days and nothing breaks.
- Easy to stop. Every email has a pause and an unsubscribe link.
If you want mood tracking, guided meditations or a journal that works offline, a phone app does more. 3gratitudes does one thing: a short daily question, and a place to keep your answers.
Private by default
Only you can read your journal. We never sell or share what you write, and there are no ads. Replies are only saved when they come from your own address.
Free, with an optional Plus plan
Free for good: the daily email, your whole journal, 1 photo a day and an export of everything you wrote. Plus costs €29 a year or €3.50 a month and adds search, a calendar, all your photos, insights, a monthly recap and a year book.
Questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. You only need an email address. You read your journal in any web browser.
What do I write in the reply?
One good thing per line, or number them 1, 2 and 3. A few words each is fine. The quoted email below your reply is left out.
What if I miss a day?
Nothing happens. There are no streaks. You can reply late, or write an earlier day on the website.
Can I write at other times?
Yes. Every journal has its own address that you can email any time, and you can write on the website too.
Can I add photos?
Yes, attach one to your reply. Free keeps 1 photo a day; Plus keeps as many as you like.
Is it really free?
Yes. The daily email and your journal are free for good. The optional Plus plan pays for the site.
